MITTON Media had a great time yesterday supporting the University of Houston’s Men’s and Women’s golf programs. We played in the UH Dave Williams/Project 17 Pro-Am, presented by Insperity, at The Woodlands Tournament Course. The course is home to the annual Champions Tour event, the Insperity Invitational, won this year by Ian Woosnam who made a 30-foot birdie putt in a playoff on Sunday to capture his first Champions Tour title.
Playing the same pin positions used for Sunday’s final round was an interesting experience. Our team’s Champions Tour pro, Joey Sindelaar, simplified the process and shared great advice. Joey proved to be an outstanding coach because we ended up winning the “Low Gross” category and one of our team members, Mike Pede, won “Closest-to-the-Pin.” Mike is the President of the University of Houston Alumni Association.
All proceeds from this annual fundraiser benefit Project 17 – the Houston Golf booster club – and the capital campaign for the Dave Williams Golf Academy at Golf Club of Houston.
UH’s Director of Golf, Jonathan Dismuke, told the group, The Dave Williams Pro-Am is always a fun event, and everyone had a great time. We are grateful to our fans, former players and outstanding professionals and the staff of The Woodlands Country Club for helping us benefit our program. This event is critical for the success of our program every year, and it was great to see how excited everyone is for the future of Houston Golf.
